February Already!

3 Feb

Wow, can you believe it’s February already! We have had so much fun with your kids that time has flown by so quickly we don’t want this year to end. Enjoy our photos, they are too cute!

We all know that this Winter has been unbelievably cold, which means we haven’t gone outside as much as we would have liked. However, we certainly enjoy the time that we do, even if it is just for a few minutes. We have noticed the hummingbirds playing much more independently on the playground. Whether it is digging in the sandbox, climbing the structures, going down slides, getting on the bikes, they don’t need our help as much!

As they have begun to play without our immediate assistance , we have observed some great group play on the play structure. We have noticed the kids loving to use the slide, climbing the rocks and yelling to their friends to follow,  friends searching each other out to play, and also to bring them a favorite toy, Genius!!

Play-doh has been a really big hit lately. We have some toy dinosaurs and tools for the play-doh that the children love, we have been working with them on sharing, by asking instead of taking. The kids are able to sit at the table for long periods of time and we are seeing a lot of creativity from them! We have been encouraging the kids to roll balls and snakes, and they love pretending the dough is food.

The kids absolutely love Moreh Ryan and they run into the gym when it is time for My Gym. It is a great place for them to get out a lot of energy while increasing their gross motor skills. Clean up is a big part of My gym as well, it is a group activity and they see the excitement that can come from cleaning together!

Sometimes you just have to play! We brought out bubble wrap for the hummingbirds to stop on and they went wild for it.  They also took turns sitting in the stroller which was another form of entertainment for them, and us!

Books, books, books, we just love them! The kids are able to sit and look at them for very long periods of times now. They love to show us their favorite books and are remembering the stories they hear.  Currently, The Monster at the End of This Book is a huge favorite.  Moreh Eli does a nice Grover voice.

We love food! We had a wonderful birthday party with yummy treats! On a different day,  we gave the kids avocado toast as a snack, some were thrilled and some not as interested, haha!

The hummingbirds know how to have fun! Whether it’s building in the classroom, coloring, dancing, going for walks, or even attempting to put on our friends shoes, we are a happy group of kids and teachers no matter where we are or what we are doing!

There is a developmental shift occurring in our classroom.  The children are building with purpose, seeking out specific friends for different projects, and our words are amazing.  We can label just about anything.  The Morahs are also having to follow through more and explain the directions and expectations.  Children this age need clear directions, firm but loving boundaries, and positive reinforcement.

We are having the best time with your kids, we hope you enjoy the blog!

Love,

Morah Julia, Moreh Eli, and Morah Ronisha
