Spirit Week!

9 Mar

What an exciting and busy week in the Chickadee classroom! We have had so much fun celebrating Purim and participating in Spirit Week. We loved seeing the Chickadees in their Seahawks gear and costumes! Tomorrow will be pajama day and of course, the Purim Carnival.

On Monday, R’s dad came to play the guitar and sing for us. The Chickadees love music and they listened so well. The favorite song of the morning was The Princess Who Saved Herself. R’s dad brought us shakers, drums, and guitar picks to use while he played. Thank you so much!

This week we made a different kind of grogger! We used paper plates and beans to create the groggers. The Chickadees then decorated them with stickers and markers. The Chickadees have been great listeners during circle time when Morah Aimee tells the Purim story. They are experts at booing Haman and shaking their groggers!

The Chickadees made Hamantaschen this week. Each Chickadee made a chocolate and jam filled Hamantaschen. It was fun to watch them pinch the corners of the dough to make a triangle. The Chickadees loved eating them later that day!

The best part of Spirit Week was Costume Day! We loved seeing the Chickadees in their adorable costumes! We went on a parade down the EC hallway in our costumes and visited the other classes. We stomped our feet and sang Purim songs!

Of course, many of the Chickadees wanted to wear their costumes all day!

My Gym was another highlight of the week and Moreh Ryan wore a costume too! The Chickadees had a great time playing with the foam noodles Moreh Ryan brought.

We also decorated masks with tissue paper. We used paintbrushes to brush on water and then stick tissue paper to the masks. When they are dry, it will leave behind beautiful and colorful patterns. We haven’t done anything like this with the Chickadees before but they jumped right into this activity with enthusiasm and creativity.

It has been a great week with the Chickadees! We love these silly, creative, loving, and unique kids!
